Let’s Push Things Forward… A Doodle Vid.

It’s been a little while since I put together one of these blog posts – so here we go.

I wanted to try something a little different this time. Strangely, I thought it would be a good idea to turn the camera around and film my myself talking and drawing a picture…all very awkward i'm sure you'll agree.

Anyhow, if I haven't managed to put you off already, please…do read on.

The idea behind this one was to give folk a little bit of insight into the process I go through when creating one of these doodle type drawings.

Usually the process involves me sticking on some music to help the ideas flow and I just start drawing, often with no clear direction or narrative, and just see what comes out the other end.

The finished product generally ends up resembling the ramblings of a mad man splattered onto a piece of paper.

The music of choice for this piece was an all-time favourite album of mine, ‘Original Pirate Material’ by The Streets. If you're familiar with the album then you may see the odd flicker of Mike Skinner lyrics appearing throughout the drawing as well as various other random gibberish from my own stream of consciousness.

You know, the more I do these kind of drawings and look back at some of the random shit that comes out, I do sometimes wonder what is actually going through my head at the time…is this normal? Should I seek professional help? Perhaps.

But I digress.

These drawings are often the growing ground of ideas and many’s a spur of the moment back of a fag packet doodle has developed into something more meaningful such as the WTVR logo.
